Retail business guide

Manage your sales, stock and payments in one place

Explore NexoPOS for your retail business in Morocco: organize your catalog, monitor stock, record payments and configure taxes. Prepare the invoice checks your business needs before going live.

Setup enquiries require sign-in. Invoice conformity and any authority or payment integrations need verification for your installation.

Build around the way your business operates

A grocery shop, clothing store and café need different workflows. Start with your products, staff and daily closing process, then choose extensions that solve a specific operational need.

  • Find products by barcode and review stock movements.
  • Keep a sales history and handle returns against the original sale.
  • Separate cash, card and bank-transfer receipts in your payment records.
i Prepare your setup review: share your business type, tax regime, NexoPOS version, store count, printer model and the documents your accountant expects.

Configure taxes for the products you sell

NexoPOS tax groups let you assign taxes to products and work with tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive prices. Have your accountant confirm the rates and treatment for each product category before applying them to the catalog.

= Configuration example: if the applicable treatment for an item has been confirmed at 20%, a price of MAD 120 including tax contains MAD 100 net value and MAD 20 tax. This calculation does not determine the rate applicable to your products.

Also test a discount, a basket with different tax treatments and a return. Check the amounts shown on the customer document and compare them with your accountant’s expected results.

Check invoices and receipts before launch

Article 145-III of the 2026 CGI covers a continuous invoice series and particulars including seller identity, fiscal references, date, customer details, product information, VAT or the appropriate indication, and payment references. Paragraph VIII also requires the issuer’s ICE.

For product sales to private individuals, the text permits a till receipt containing specified minimum details. Confirm the document appropriate to your activity and any regime exceptions, including paragraph XI.

i Validate on your installation: IF, ICE and professional-tax details, customer information, numbering and the printed template. A standard receipt or a correct tax total alone does not establish conformity of the whole workflow.

Define the DGI requirements for your setup

Article 145-IX addresses invoicing systems meeting administration criteria, with implementation arrangements set by sector regulation. Confirm the texts and guidance applicable to your circumstances with the DGI.

i Integration status: a NexoPOS connection to a DGI platform and evidence of conformity for the proposed version have not been verified. This page makes no blanket claim about an electronic-transmission deadline.

Before integration, agree the data to transmit, how rejections, corrections and duplicates will be handled, and how to reconcile differences between the POS and the chosen invoicing system.

Keep each payment method clear

NexoPOS records payments under multiple types, including custom types. If you use a card terminal or an external service, confirm receipt with the provider before recording the amount in the POS.

  1. Create the types you need under Orders → Payment Types, such as Card Terminal or Bank Transfer.
  2. Activate the relevant types and train cashiers to use them consistently.
  3. Enter each confirmed amount under its payment method, including mixed payments.
  4. Match POS records to counted cash and provider statements at closing.
i Example: a MAD 120 sale can be recorded as MAD 80 by card and MAD 40 cash once both amounts are received. Recording the card amount does not operate the terminal.

Payment requests, automatic confirmation, integrated bank references and provider refunds require a separate compatible integration.

Choose extensions around your operational needs

The following products address operational tasks. Check compatibility with your NexoPOS version, hardware prerequisites, licensing and current prices on their product pages.

Import your existing catalog

Bulk Importer supports CSV imports for products, customers and procurements. Test a small file and opening quantities before a full migration.

Scan barcodes and check stock

Barcode Utility supports mobile barcode scanning and inventory work. Confirm current app availability and compatibility with your devices.

Separate your store operations

Multistore manages isolated stores within one installation. Define shared-catalog, transfer and reporting needs before choosing this architecture.

Plan your receipt-printing setup

NPS Adapter connects NexoPOS to the separate Nexo Print Server application. Check licenses, the Windows host and your printer; this printing setup does not establish fiscal certification.

Add café or restaurant workflows

Gastro adds table management and kitchen workflows. Ingredient tracking and a digital menu can extend this setup after compatibility review.

Plan documents, languages and the complete setup cost

The open-source core can be self-hosted. Budget separately for a server or hosting, maintenance, backups, devices, paid extensions and setup assistance. Payment services and any invoice-specific development have their own costs.

Article 211 provides for ten-year retention of the relevant records, including electronic retention in the specified circumstances. Establish an archive and restore process appropriate to your business.

  • Test a sale, discount, mixed payment and return with the required customer document.
  • Check the interface, product labels and receipts separately for French or Arabic use.
  • Test Arabic characters, text direction and fonts on the actual printer.
  • Assign responsibility for backups, updates and closing discrepancies.

Local installation does not guarantee that an external service will work without internet. Test network and power failures and the recovery of each service you use.

Questions to settle before choosing

No verified proof of conformity is established for this configuration. Validate the document template, fiscal details, numbering and any integrations for the selected version and business activity.

No. It helps calculate and record sales. Agree the data handoff, reconciliations and treatment of fiscal documents with your accountant.

A custom payment type records a method and amount. Automatic communication with the provider requires a compatible integration.
